Roughly 70 kilometres south of Durban, just a little further south than Pennington, Bazley forms part of the south coast?s endless stretch of beach that offers a continuous source of swimming, diving, fishing and all round family fun.
It?s not surprising that this part of the world is a draw card to those who hunger for days of beach, sand and sun. Although it can get pretty overcrowded during the school holidays and festive season, Bazley, which lies just north of the Fafa River, and its predominantly sugarcane surrounds are as beautiful at other times of the year, minus the crowds. The mild subtropical climate makes for hot, balmy days, warm nights and the constant whirr of insect and bird wings as both man and nature enjoy the bounties of excellent weather.
Bazley Beach shares the Fafa River mouth or lagoon with its direct neighbour, Ifafa Beach, and if you don?t enjoy what the lagoon has to offer by way of diversion - canoeing, rafting, general splashing - then certainly Ndesingaan Beach will fulfil its promise of hours of surfing and swimming and endless walks along open beach. Ndesingaan is a beautiful bay with literally miles of unspoilt beach.
You will need little by way of diversion whilst staying in Bazley, but should the weather play up, for whatever reason, the Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve is but a few kilometres north of Bazley. You can also access a couple of nature walks from the village of Bazley, such as the Mpithi Nature Trail, a bird-watchers? delight that ventures through riverine forest following the lagoon.
