One of the main towns in the heart of the unspoilt Waterberg Region, Bela Bela is a polular health and holiday resort and lies only 100 km from Pretoria. The town owes its origin to hot mineral springs that bubble out of the earth at about 22 000 litres per hour with a temperature of around 53ºC. The Tswana discovered the mineral waters in the 1800's and named them Bela Bela meaning "the water that boils on its own. Bela Bela serves a thriving agricultural region and is home to well stocked game reserves and resorts.
